Club Meeting at the G Casino, Newcastle

Seven players turned up for our second monthly meeting at the G Casino in Newcastle. Keith emerged as the winner of the all play all.

Lake District Tournament, Sunday 19 March 2017

Several of our players competed in the 4th Lake District tournament at the Cedar Manor Hotel in Windermere.

Club Meeting 6 March 2017

14 players turned up including two first time visitors, John & Julia.

12 played in a knock out & rather than having equity enhancing byes, we played to a last three who played an all play all final.Pol, Graeme & first time visitor John Oxley each won one final match & shared the honours.

Reminder

The club's usual monthly meeting at the Royal British Legion in West Jesmond will take place tonight, Monday 6 March, at 7pm.

Club Meeting 13 February 2017

We are now meeting twice monthly. The first Monday of each month at the Royal British Legion &   normally on the third Monday at the G Casino. Six players turned up & below is Gary playing Graeme.

A tricky decision with a 1 1 roll. Graeme (black) has moved two checkers from his 5 point however he eventually rejected this play & tried 13/11 (2). Was he correct?

At the end of the evening we had a four way tie for first place between Martin, Alan, Graeme & Gary.

Club Meeting 6 February 2017

10 players came along & the evening started with a tutorial by Graeme on middle game checker plays. We then had a consulting "doubles & trebles Tourney."

 In the final, team Gary & Mike played Alan, Pol & Don.

Gary & Mike are the champions. In fact this is the third successive monthly meeting where Mike has picked up a prize.

NEBA One Day Invitational Event 21st January 2017

19 players competed including club members & invited guests at the G Casino in Newcastle. After a gruelling day's play Roger Porter was the clear winner with 5 match wins out of 5. Keith & Neil were the joint runners up with 4/5. As usual the casino were generous hosts & laid on a splendid buffet.
