The club's usual monthly meeting at the Royal British Legion in West Jesmond will take place tonight, Monday 6 March, at 7pm.

Club Meeting 13 February 2017

We are now meeting twice monthly. The first Monday of each month at the Royal British Legion &   normally on the third Monday at the G Casino. Six players turned up & below is Gary playing Graeme.

A tricky decision with a 1 1 roll. Graeme (black) has moved two checkers from his 5 point however he eventually rejected this play & tried 13/11 (2). Was he correct?

At the end of the evening we had a four way tie for first place between Martin, Alan, Graeme & Gary.

Club Meeting 6 February 2017

10 players came along & the evening started with a tutorial by Graeme on middle game checker plays. We then had a consulting "doubles & trebles Tourney."

 In the final, team Gary & Mike played Alan, Pol & Don.

Gary & Mike are the champions. In fact this is the third successive monthly meeting where Mike has picked up a prize.

NEBA One Day Invitational Event 21st January 2017

19 players competed including club members & invited guests at the G Casino in Newcastle. After a gruelling day's play Roger Porter was the clear winner with 5 match wins out of 5. Keith & Neil were the joint runners up with 4/5. As usual the casino were generous hosts & laid on a splendid buffet.

9 January 2017

A record attendance of 16 players turned up for our meeting on 9th January 2017. The evening started with a presentation of prizes for the Autumn 2016 season.

Mike Snowdon, runner up in the 2nd Division & promoted to the first. Congratulating him are Martin Barkwill, club chair, Tim Cross, UK captain & Graeme Turner, club treasurer.

We welcomed three new players to the club, Lawrence, Nigel & Tim Cross, the U.K. team captain. Tim was beaten by one of our local players, Alan Hind who reached the final against Jamie & was leading 4-0 when time was called. This match will be finished later.

Martin Barkwill Wins NEBA League Autumn 2016

Martin Barkwill wins a closely fought match against defending champion, Graeme Turner 9-7. Martin is league champion with six match wins out of eight & Keith Gill is runner-up with five wins.
